Do I need to log in to purchase a product on the DBIA Bookstore?
No, you can browse and purchase any product on the DBIA Bookstore without signing in or creating an account. Just follow the normal checkout process after adding your items to your shopping cart and provide your contact and billing information on the final checkout screen to complete your order.
The benefit of creating an account and signing in before you complete your order is that the DBIA Bookstore will be able to save a history of your past orders. But the confirmation email that you receive after placing an order will contain all of the purchase information and download links for your records.
Your account in the DBIA Bookstore is not the same as the one you use to manage your DBIA membership. Even if you have a DBIA membership account, you may not have a DBIA Bookstore account set up. You can create an account by clicking the “My Account” link in the top menu of the DBIA Bookstore and completing the form under the “Register” heading.
Are there any discounts available for purchases in the DBIA Bookstore? How do I find and apply my DBIA membership discount?
We offer a 50% discount on contract documents in the DBIA Bookstore for current DBIA members in good standing. To get your 50% discount, you will need to use the discount code found in your DBIA member dashboard. Log into your dashboard here. And then in the right sidebar, click on the button that says “Resources.” You will find your discount code there. Enter this code into the “Coupon code” field when viewing your shopping cart, and then click “Apply coupon”:
You will see your 50% discount applied in your shopping cart. Then proceed to checkout.
This discount can apply to multiple contracts at the same time. Please note that the discount will only apply to products in the “Contract Documents.”
Will I receive printed copies of my DBIA contract, primer or Manual of Practice documents?
All of our products, with the exception of DBIA merchandise listed in the “DBIA Gear” section (t-shirts, stickers, mugs, etc.), are provided as digital downloads only. DBIA does not offer hard copies of any of our products in the DBIA Bookstore. After you place your order, you will receive an email confirmation that contains your download links.
What format are contract documents provided in?
DBIA contracts are provided as downloadable Word (.docx) files. This will allow you to modify the documents as your specific project or team requires. If you do not have Microsoft Word, you can try OpenOffice which is a free open-source alternative to Microsoft Office. You can also try opening your purchased documents in a cloud-based document service like Google Docs.
How do I download my purchased documents?
You will receive an email confirmation after you complete your order that contains your download links. Please look for an email from the sender “DBIA Bookstore” (in some email applications it may look like “communications@dbia(dot)org on behalf of DBIA Bookstore”) and with the subject “Your DBIA Bookstore order is now complete.” If you do not see this email several minutes after you placed your order, check your junk/spam folders.
If you have a DBIA Bookstore account (not to be confused with your DBIA membership account – See “Do I need to log in to purchase a product” above), you can download your purchased documents by logging into your account and clicking on “Downloads” in the sidebar under “My Account.” This will display all of your download links for your purchased products. However, if you did not sign in or create an account when you completed your purchase, this feature will not be available.
How do I renew my license for a contract that I have purchased?
Each purchase of a DBIA contract document grants the purchaser a 1-year license from the date of purchase to use the contract as many times as needed during that 1-year period.
To renew a license, just purchase the same contract document from the DBIA Bookstore again. Your new purchase will be documented in our records and your license is once again effective for one year starting from the purchase date.
